The Beijing Olympic is a once in a life time event for the Chinese people (it was 44 years between the 1956 Melbourne Olympic and 2000 Sydney Olympic). Since it is also the first ever Olympic Games held in China, the expectation for the Beijing Olympic is that it will be one of the best, if not the best.

Apart from those lucky enough to actually go to Beijing in August this year to eye witness the Games, other people, especially overseas Chinese, would like to join in some sort of mass celebration during the opening ceremony. The planned Beijing Olympic Grand Opening Celebration being organized and to be staged by the Chinese Community in Queensland will provide the venue, facilities, and pre-opening entertainment for the occasion.
